December was a great month for the unemployed. A surge in hiring has dropped the unemployment rate to 8.5%. The Labor Department has reported that employers added up to 200,000 new jobs last month.
2011 as a whole did very well, adding 1.6 million jobs, out doing the 940,000 added in 2010.
Where are the jobs?
Manufacturing added 23,000 jobs
Transportation added 50,000 jobs
Warehousing added 50,000 jobs
Retailers added 28,000 jobs
Construction added 17,000
